City Outroars Brisbane On Opening Night

Melbourne City, through a Bruce Kamau double, has kickstarted their campaign with a win against Brisbane Roar in front of a crowd of 9,589 at AAMI Park.

It was a slow start from both teams. Without a shot from either side in the first 20 minutes of the game, McCormack came close to getting his first goal in City colours before the end of the half but was denied.

Before the end of the first half, winger Bruce Kamau goaled from outside the 18 yard box and gave the home side the dream start before the end of 45.

The second half started with City dictating possession, creating headaches for the Roar defence. Skepetis had a lazy shot which didn’t trouble keeper Galekovic.

In the 76th minute, Kamau did the double with a deflection off Jade North, and City doubled their lead 2-0.

That’s how the game ended. Warren Joyce got his first win as City coach and topped the table on opening night.
