Jets Flying High in Adelaide

Newcastle Jets are flying high after securing a 2-1 win against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium to be sitting currently on top of the ladder after Matchday six.

The Reds were the ones who created all the early chances, and at one point had 89.5% of the possession which most of it was in their front third.

George Blackwood, Dylan Adlung and Nikola Mileusnic had opportunities early, but denied by the Jets defence throughout the first 15 minutes of the contest.

Mileusnic got the home side out in front in the 24th minute with a spacious goal in a one on one contest against Jack Duncan which the latter lost in the end.

Newcastle pressed strongly in the latter part of the first half, and got the equaliser before the end of 45 through Ben Kantarovski.

Newcastle made it 2-1 through an error from the Reds defenders where Andrew Nabbout was left one on one with Paul Izzo, and easily put it in the back of the net.

Roy O’Donovan could’ve made it 3-1, but made one of the blunders of the season with having a free goal and his shot going to the left side of the post.

Baba Diawara tried to equalise late in the 95th minute, but his shot from the header went high of the goals and over the crossbar with Newcastle holding on for a victory.
