1116 SEN LAUNCHES ‘ROAD TO RUSSIA’

Former Socceroos striker, Josh Kennedy, will hit the airwaves tonight hosting 1116 SEN’s Road To Russia show – dedicated to covering all of the action of the 2018 soccer World Cup.

The show will run from 4 June – 11 July at 7:00pm – 8:00pm each evening and be co-hosted by 1116 SEN all-rounder Jack Heverin.

The skilled duo will provide listeners with in-depth analysis of the world’s greatest celebration of football. The show will include insights and interviews with past and present players, expert commentators and influential figures to discuss and dissect all the key elements of the prestigious sporting event.

“The World Cup is the pinnacle of sporting events globally and is consistently the most followed sporting event worldwide.

Road to Russia will place our Australian listeners at the forefront of all the action,” Kennedy said.

“I have been lucky enough to play for the Socceroos at two World Cups and will never forget that experience. I cannot wait to see which of our Socceroos announce themselves on this huge stage.”

“There are so many incredible players from around the world in action and the quality of football will be spectacular. I can’t wait to join Jack Heverin and discuss it all on 1116 SEN,” Kennedy added.

Additionally, Road to Russia will include a content series profiling some of the key teams, discussing the team’s road to the playoffs, training regimes, previous achievements and notable players.

The tournament will see 32 teams compete for the coveted FIFA World Cup Trophy. A total of 64 matches will be held across 11 capital cities of host country, Russia, with the first official game kicking off Friday 15 June, and the Final scheduled to take place on 16 July.

Road to Russia will be supplemented by tournament updates across 1116 SEN’s Morning, Drive and Afternoon programs.
