Scottish giants confirm Arzani interest

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed the club are working hard behind the scenes on securing the signing of exciting Australian youngster Daniel Arzani on a possible loan deal.

Arzani has been tipped to join Premier League champions Manchester City – the parent club of his current employers, Melbourne City, under the City Football Group banner – with plans to be immediately loaned out to a club in Europe.

Scottish giants Celtic and Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven are the most likely destinations.

Hoops boss Rodgers admitted he is an admirer of the 19-year-old’s prodigious talent and says he is a player they’re keen on landing during the transfer window.

“All I know is that he is a young Australian, a very talented player and went to the World Cup where he looked very, very good,” Rodgers said.

“The club are working hard behind the scenes to try and get some signings in. I think he’s been one that has been identified.”

The winger impressed during his three substitute appearances for Australia at the World Cup and looks increasingly likely that he won’t be returning to the A-League next season.

If the deal goes through, Arzani will link up with Socceroos teammate Tom Rogic at Celtic Park.
