“World class”: Is Liverpool ace the Premier League’s best player?

In-form Liverpool ace Sadio Mane has been hailed the Premier League’s best player by Manchester United legend Phil Neville.

Fresh after placing fourth in the 2019 Ballon D’Or, Mane delivered two sublime assists and got on the scoresheet in the Reds’ 5-2 Merseyside Derby thumping of rivals Everton at Anfield.

The Senegalese star shared last year’s Premier League golden boot with teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal marksman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and is up to nine goals already this campaign.

With Liverpool eights point clear at the summit and charging towards a first league title in 30 years, Neville says Mane’s importance to Jurgen Klopp’s juggernaut can’t be underestimated.

“I just keep thinking about Mane, everyone goes on about (Roberto) Firmino and Salah, I actually think he is (their most important player) at this moment in time,” Neville told Optus Sport.

“The one that he probably can’t afford to drop. I don’t think there is a better player in the Premier League than Mane, maybe in Europe, at this moment in time.

"I know we used to have (Eden) Hazard who was sensational, I think Mane now is world class.”

Liverpool remain unbeaten after 14 games with 43 points out of a possible 45.

The European champions' next assignment is a home match against relegation-threatened Watford at Anfield.
