Who should Melbourne Victory target as their next head coach?

Melbourne Victory are on the market for a new head coach following the shock sacking of Marco Kurz.

Spaniard Carlos Salvachua will take charge until the end of the season, giving the Victory time to find a settle on their next full-time appointment.

Fox Sports reporter Daniel Garb floated a couple of names who could potentially succeed Kurz in the Victory hotseat.

Harry Kewell, a former Victory player, is currently without a job after he was sacked by English side Notts County in November 2018.

Garb feels Kewell could reignite his coaching career with the A-League powerhouse.

“Harry Kewell’s name gets bandied around about every time there is a vacancy in Australian football, but I think it gets bandied about for good reason when it comes to the Victory. He played for them of course,” he told SEN Drive.

“Harry’s based in the UK; he wants a job. His first in England with Crawley Town went pretty well to the point where he was recruited by a bigger club in a sense.

“It didn’t work out for him there, but the other manager that came didn’t work out either – they still got relegated, you can’t blame Harry for that.

“He deserves another chance somewhere, I think he would only come back to Australia, and I think he would be keen to come back to Australia to coach, but only for a big club of which the Victory fit the bill.”

Garb believes the Victory could look at former Melbourne Heart and Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi after he was linked with the job following Kevin Muscat’s departure.

“The John Aloisi link continues to grow with strength as well,” Garb said.

“A lot of people will say that John has had enough chances, I think he deserves another one.

“I think he would be a very good Australian football coach and the Victory seem to be keen considering some of the speculation that has been around over the last year or so when Muscat was set to leave.”

Kurz lasted just 13 games with the Victory who sit sixth on the table with just four wins.
