Postecoglou’s Yokohama dismantle Sydney FC in Asian Champions League rout

Ange Postecoglou’s Yokohama F. Marinos dismantled Sydney FC 4-0 in their Asian Champions League clash on Wednesday.

Yokohama delivered the A-League champions a brutal reality check, racing to an early 3-0 lead before coasting to their second win in as many games.

Speaking on Fox Sports post-game, Mark Bosnich says the J-League champions were “on a different planet” to the Sky Blues, who currently sit 10 points clear at the top of the A-League.

“I think it’s one of the best performances I’ve witnessed from an Asian team in all the time that we’ve been doing the Champions League,” Bosnich said.

“The bottom line is this: They were on a different planet. They were on a different planet tonight.”

Postecoglou has transformed the Japanese club since taking charge in December 2017 after quitting his post as Socceroos coach prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Yokohama open their J-League title defence against Gamba Osaka on Sunday.
